Timing Belt Replacement cost
Could anyone let me know what I should be paying a good independent shop to replace the timing belt and idlers (non-failure--just the 105000 mile replacement) for the 2.7T engine?
Thanks,
Thanks,

The local independent shop here in Marin County (just north of San Francisco) charges $1800 with water pump, thermostat and all of the tensioner/roller parts, plus another $1000 for the cam tensioner re-seal. They recommend the belt @ 75k miles.

$2800 for timing belt and cam seal tensioner? Overpriced by about 1300 bucks. It only takes another hour to get to the seals when doing a timing belt. I would look for another shop.

I live in MA and have a great mechanic. I have an '02 allroad with 117k miles on it and just had the timing belt, idlers, water pump and alternator belt replaced for 950 bucks. He uses all OEM parts too.
Also, after that I had him replace both of my valve cover gaskets. He charged me 350 bucks for that.
The stealership quoted me 1950 bucks for the timing belt and 1700 bucks for the valve cover gaskets.
NH is not that far from me so it may be worth it for you to travel down here to save some $$$.
