Tip Lag
Is the tip chip a solution for this, or will it just firm the shifts? Also, will the "service mode" solve this problem?

Or you have both of the aboves.
4 from 5 of the service stations are unable to fill up the tiptronic correctly. That is my personal experience! In an empty situation 9,5 liters should be filled up. Not 8,2 or 9 liters.
The filling process should be done very thoroughly. The tiptronic is quite sensible on missing above 0,4 liter of ATF. That casues lags and later, early wearouts.
Further, outer signal senders's implausible signals can be also the reason but in that case you should feel several different problems as well.
To the drivers behaviour, the tiptronic adapts itself analysing the very last 2 minutes.
A tranny reset, a "strong reset" is possible in case you do not have MIL light on. By making that via the TCU terminal, the tranny computer learns the values of the phisycal system, e.g oil pressure losses at several valves (e.g. compensates the wear, partly, in order to be able to shift as smooth as possible). That needs indefinite time, depending on terrains, situations from 30km to 1000km
The tranny works fine at its best if you feel a very direct connection between the throttle (pedal) and the reactions of the car even moving very small amounts with your right leg. I mean a very close feeling to a normal shifter one, without lag or slips, even in 1-2. And it should shift so smoothly that you cannot feel literally.
