Tip Question for the AR.
Hi all, took the AR on an 300mi+ journey with the fam. and noticed that the car will roll when shifiting from R to D on an incline. After about 2 seconds or so the trans will engage abruptly.
Is this normal? Is there a TSB?

The part number for the "NEW" 2001 allroad TCM is...
(SPO) 4Z7 927 156 A. The part cost $652.10, under warranty and there was a labor charge of $77.40. No wonder why AOA has not wanted to addrss this issue! The new module has eliminated the B-T-L issue as well as the clunking that routinely occured while the car was seeking gears during low speed driving and highway ramp access throttle inputs. It also appears to address the constant "gear seeking" that the tranny has been doing on a daily basis (with no fault codes, of course) for the last few years. F'n AMEN!

As with any auto tranny, you should have your foot on teh brake when shifting from R to D...
...and be completely stopped. Rollback should never be a problem. Be sure to wait for the tranny to finish shifting before taking your foot off the brake and hitting the throttle. TIPs do seem to be a bit slow to shift from R to D, though (patience!).

How did You get the new part? under warranty? What about flash update? more..
I have a 2001 that I am very happy with accept for the transmission. I have been considering the GIAC tip chip to help moderate the deficiencies of the TCM. A "NEW" part may be the answer. BTW have you heard of the "Flash update" to the older TCM's
