I have read the forums until my eyes have gone cross eyed. I am from Oz and Audi Australia are of no help and neither are the dealers
I just wanted to know, given the clearance issues in the wheel cavity, whether or not there was sufficient clearance from suspension, steering arms etc...fitting a 245/50 17" on a stock 7.5x17" rim.
Most of you have had modifications done to your cars so I don't know if those impacted on wheel clearance when fitting bigger tyres.
I don't want to make a mistake because stock or these tyres will set me back USD 440 Each! and I don't like the stock. Yes its expensive here.
Please go easy on me.
Also Oz has a really slim slelection on tyres as they have rating/load rules making it harder to find tyres rated equal or higher than W97.

$440 each-yikes! Standard tire on 4.2 is 245/45/18 so I would think it should fit fine..
the diameter of the new tire is only about 2mm smaller than stock and the width of the tire should not be any problem with suspension/wheel wells etc. You would just have to verify with the tire manufacturer that the rim width is OK for that tire.

Wow ... for $440 each, I'll buy them for you at about $120US each and put them on the slow boat to Aussi (or I'll bring them with me next time I have to fly for Ansett). Either way, it'll be half the cost to you.
