Wheels
I have a beautiful 2001 Audi Allroad that stands in need of new tires. I would like to get new rims also but don't want to pay retail prices. Would like to just order them over the internet(possibly w/ tires) but have no idea how to go about doing it. I know I want 18's and I love the Enkei RPM-2's but don't know what size beyond that. Don't want to mess it up. I live in a area filled with mountains and snow so I hope 18's aren't a stretch. Any advice?
Great suggestions, loved looking at all of those custom allroads.
Some spacers just take up the gap and some actually bolt to the hub. I like the bolt-on feature as it won't get lost and you don't have to worry about it falling off when you remove the wheel which might damage/scuff the precision bore.
Installation appears very easy and intuitive. Any wheel install shop should be able to do it.
I've seen spacers for as low as $50/pair (thus you need 2 pair)

H&R spacers are common too:

but they cost almost double.
I have never used spacers so I'm not too versed on any manufacturing or quality differences.
Here's another thought:
Contact EdgeRacing. They do 'bundles' which is they mount the tires on the wheels and ship them to your door. I've done this several times over the years with no problems. I've ordered from edgeracing too. They also carry the Enkei RPM02 for $248. Tell them you have an allroad so you'll need 15mm spacers since the Enkei wheels have a 35mm offset. Then see what 245/45R18 tires they have.

http://www.edgeracing.com/2001/Audi/A6_2.7T/bundle/1904/
(note I put in an A6 2.7t so the Enkei would show up. The tire size is wrong so you'll need to call.)
If they can't provide the spacers, order from one of the links I listed above. Then as long as you have your jack, install them youself. Since the tires are already mounted on the wheels, it shouldn't take you any more than about 20 minutes per wheel to mount (and that's VERY generous with time, probably 12 min/ wheel is closer).
Thus for a correct bundle with the RPM02, 245/45R18 and 2 pairs of spacers, you're looking at about $1550-$2000 shipped depending on what tires and spacers you pick and where you live. This doesn't include a 5th spare, but that's not really as useful for an allroad since it uses that inflatable spare.
If you are willing to search the internet for the best prices on all the components, then you might come out cheaper ordering them separately (since edgeracing may not carry the tires you want, etc), but having the tires coming premounted on the wheels you want is a $ savings since you can't do that yourself, forcing you to go to a shop.
Good luck in your search.
thanks,
