Xenon headlights life expectancy
Has anyone replaced a burnt out xenon headlamp bulb yet? If so at what mileage or age? I know they have a much longer life than halogen.
I had to replace oem halogen headlight bulbs on my 97 E320 Benz every 6 months.

Xenon bulb will last longer (50K+)....no filament like Halogen...then again..you have a ballast ..
to worry about. Your ballast could die early...and the dealership will only replace the whole headlight housing...not the ballast. That is just how they manage these particular parts; only a part# for the bulbs...and the entire..complete housing.
check my previous links....to fill in some of those blanks...see the link to the HID FAQ website... An easy way to kill 4 hours of your evening.
Hope this helps!!

Xenon headlamp bulbs typically have a longer lifespan than halogen bulbs. They can last anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 hours. Factors such as driving conditions, usage patterns, and the quality of the bulb can influence their longevity. Many drivers report xenon bulbs lasting several years without replacement. Comparatively, halogen bulbs in older vehicles, like your '97 E320 Benz, may have shorter lifespans, often requiring replacement every 6-12 months. Xenon bulbs are known for their durability, but eventual replacement may depend on specific driving habits and environmental conditions. Regular maintenance and timely replacement ensure optimal lighting performance.

That is what I was expecting..xenon globes should last much longer!
My car is still under warranty.. Even if it was not, it is only 4 years and 4 months when one of the xenon globes stopped working.
Audi tells me it is not covered under warranty and i need to bear the replacement cost which is about $1000 (cost + labour)
What do you suggest I should do?

First of all this forum is for C5 based Allroads, that was produced until 2005. Based on your milage, I assume you have a newer car. Check the forum that is dedicated to your car. Also share some details about your model (year, type,..).
Lastly going through the Audi dealer, it the most expensive route you can take. Search for posts on the topic in the correct forum.
I don't know what car year you have, but typically it is possible to buy a new bulb and just replace it. If not fro Audi, them from an aftermarket vendor. It is a simple procedure and something you can likely do yourself. It may also be the ballast, which is an electronic module that typically is attached to the headlight.
As an example I replaced a B8 A5 Xenon headlight bulb last year for ~ $60.
