Charging target - 80%?
My etron, as configured from the dealer, has a charging target of 100%. With that I get estimates of anywhere from 190-220 miles on a charge depending on my driving mood.
I've noticed that there seems to be a bunch of advise - both in Audi's videos, and anecdotally online - that we should be using a charge target of 80%. I'd also read that audi was keeping some %age of its battery in "reserve"? to extend battery life.
Anyone want to add any color or facts here?

Same experience for me the default came as 100% charging target upon delivery which I've since reset to 80%. Like you I had heard the 80% recommendation and then I did find the 80% recommendation in the owners manual with language like "this will extend the long term life of the battery". It says to set it to 100% before trips for max range.

Keeping the state of charge between 20-80% is recommended to maximize the life of lithium batteries. This is an ideal, of course, and your driving situation may not allow that every time. For those long trips, go ahead and charge to 100%. No point in charging to 100% unless you have to, though. Charging to 80% or less allows you to take advantage of regenerative braking, which the e-tron is good at and up to 30% of the e-tron's range comes from regenerative braking.

I also want to add that at 100%. the regen ( you can confirm by the indicator) is limited. ie it will be using the brake pad - friction braking, earlier/more.
Also the Audi IQ app ( on IOS) says regen braking is maximized when SoC is < 75%

I get the feeling Audi built in a reserve for now just like gas. (And they are also holding back.) Meaning 100% for the user is really 80% for the vehicle battery.
Hell they need to leave room for the software update next year that allows for a bump in range.
Edition One 100% user charge = 80% battery SoC = 204 miles
Edition Two 100% user charge = 90% battery SoC = 225 miles
Edition Three 100% user charge = 100% battery SoC = 250 miles and you are on you own about managing it down to just 80% SoC with reduced range.

I agree. Plan on 100% as I want to leave my home each day with a full "tank". I am leasing for 3 years and paying the cost of a heavy reduction in residual value so I might as well use what I am paying for! ;-)
