I agree.

I'll second that, but a jump to 40 amp is a significant improvement. If you can see frequent needs for the increased amperage I'd consider an upgrade. You'd just need to be sure you have a 50 amp line going to it.

Question to the electricians out there.....Can I get set up for DC charging in my home? Pros/Cons? Costs? How much service 100amp/200amp would the home need to have?

I have 200 A service to my home, but I'm not sure if it's 3 phase. I bet it would be a pretty penny.

That's 3 x 70 amps/phase for the DC charger, only, for 100 KW charging capacity. Most homes have 220v one phase, with a neutral, supply to the breaker box. Usually, the largest breaker box for a house is 200 amp. Cost is between $5K and $10K for the DC charger. If I remember correctly, Juice Box was selling a DC charger "kit" a few years ago. You could always ask your power company to set you a 480V 3 phase transformer on the pole (or pad). Shouldn't cost more than $10K.

Well, ya'll gave me a good chuckle. Won't be spending 10k at this time. But good to know.

Yeah, funny. I realized we have 400A, but I think it’s single-phase.

We're going to throw a dozen Juicebox 75s at our offices and a dual DC fast charger (150kW). Should be fun. Once it's up, I'll let everyone know how fast it goes from empty to 80% in the eTron.
