About time! We already activated ours over a year ago on our 2024 Q8 e-tron.

My new E-Tron RS GT supposedly has the lights and system but it's turned off in the software. I wonder if it now can be turned on.

Nice! Only need to run the upgrade to a completely new car and model to get them! Bananas that the cars are equipped and Audi never pushed to get permission to activate.

Nothing in the article stated that existing models, particularly Q8 e-tron, would be benefiting from the matrix usage. The article focused on the Q9, coming toward the end of this year. From info provided so far, it's ICE-only, so of no interest to me.

Correct. I seriously doubt this applies to any of the matrix design headlights already in the US. When the US finally approved the use of adaptive headlights in the US it also produced a set of US-specific performance standards. The lights currently in Audi's, but disabled, cannot meet the US requirements without some redesign. So, as before, you can have Europrice activated them for you, but they will not meet the US standards.

The US never loosened their rules governing matrix headlights unfortunately. So no cars that have been sold in the US so far will retroactively have the matrix activated by Audi sadly.

The upcoming generations of Audi will have matrix headlights that meet the stricter US guidelines for performance and will come activated to the US.

So for all the cars in the US and most in Canada you’ll still sadly need to have the matrix activated aftermarket.

Cheers,
