Default First Long-ish Trip in e-tron

First time in about 2 years of having an e-tron that I went further than one charge. Drove it 175 miles pure highway and averaged 2.8 mi/ kWh. Stopped at EA, charged it up to 90% then picked up a Silvercar (Q7) for the rest of my trip. Taking the e-tron would have been impossible due to the lack of any chargers where I was going. On the way home, a lot of stop-and-go traffic and had the same 2.8 mi/kWh average. I will say, as much as I love the Q7, the e-tron is a much better highway cruiser. Smoother, quieter, and just turned on the adaptive cruise assist + massage seats which made for a much more relaxed drive.

Going on a 1,500 mile trip at the end of the month where I will be driving the e-tron the whole time. Will post about that next month.

Hold on, where were you going with no chargers? Only reason I am asking is because I ran into the same issue in SD and WY. There was simply a dead spot or a donut hole on the map. Ended up ice'ing it. If I had to do it over again and had more time for the trip, I might have risked an overnight hotel stay around Rapid City to recharge before setting out the following morning but that stretch from Sioux Falls to Rapid City would have been brutal. I anticipated way too much 110v trickle charging to make it worth it. Again, had there been several days to do the trip I probably could have overnighted at hotels and used a Tesla tap, but nobody wants to do that every 200 miles.

Stayed a week around Shenandoah National Park. There are a couple level 2 chargers, but no where near where I'd be for the day.

Yeah, those national parks are still an issue for the eTron, which is very frustrating because I find the eTron is otherwise an ideal vehicle to drive through a national park when it comes to performance, ride control features, and comfort.

Taking it to Great Smoky Mountains next. Hotel has a charger and there is the EA in Kodak that I'll use to charge up before arriving.
