Default Update on my issues

My e-tron has been at my dealer for two weeks. The issue is with level 3 charging. After a series of diagnostics in coordination with Audi Germany, it was determined that my battery has to be removed so that a Voltage Relay Module can be replaced. Obviously this sounds like brain surgery to me and I am very nervous about my car ever being correct.

The news today wasn't great. The module came in todays shipment but now we are waiting on one other part from Germany so that is another 7 to 10 days.

I just really hope that these folks can properly repair my car. I love my e-tron but I have to admit I have never had issues with a new car anywhere near this bad. (at least my loaner was the sales managers car, an SQ5).

Just my opinion of course, but removing the battery seems quite a straightforward operation. There are some pictures of the battery pack online, which show it is a sealed, standalone unit which simply screws in from the bottom of the car. I personally would not be overly concerned about this.

Sounds a little scary to me, probably the reason I did a lease vs a buy. I would not be happy with a loaner other than an e tron. I am in Ohio, the lemon law kicks in if the vehicle is in the shop for 30 or more days. I would keep this in mind, I have had 3 buybacks in the past 15 years (ironically, all Audi/VW products).

That’s probably true.

We’re probably not there yet but the time will come where EVs are much easier to work on, due to their modularity and the lower number of parts, especially moving parts.

Yep, that's exactly what happened yesterday. Audi agreed to buy back the etron at 100% as part of a deal where I then leased a different Audi. It took about two hours of discussion which I thought was amazing that they came to the decision that quickly. But the issue with the charging was still not resolved since 12/11 so I was heading to a lemon law situation anyway.

I decided not to buy another etron. I decided to wait a few more years to see how the product line develops. The etron was just not a good experience for me, the first for me with Audi. I wish everyone on this forum great joy in driving yours.

I agree with you. I had high hopes for this Audi and it's clear that with all the development time they had the company is still stuck in the past with no plan to change anytime soon. This is the last Audi I will be owning based on my experience with the e-Tron

That’s serious goodwill. Good on them for quickly making it right. I’ve been down that road and have friends who I’ve helped with a similar experience. We got some pushback at each level and it took months.

A similar thing happened to me (I recounted the tale in another post on this forum) that required a battery rebuild within the first 2 weeks of delivery. Battery part arrived within a reasonable time but the big issue was with a part needed to lift / remove the battery pack. I was told there isn’t wide availability in the US and because of this the waitlist for it was up to 3 months. So ... I’m in the midsts of the buyback process now which they also came to quickly & w/o friction. Audi even offered me a loyalty voucher on the new car purchase to keep my business.

I’m definitely going with another e-tron as I’m keen to go electric and nothing stacks up to the fit & finish of the Audi. Actually my new edition one is at the dealership already so I’m waiting for them to schedule delivery #2. The dealer is obviously being very thorough in checking the car, not wanting a repeat performance . All in all the situation was a disappointing start to EV ownership, but the dealer and Audi have handled it well.

Happy to hear it is working out for you. I leased a beautiful S7 delaying my move to EV for at least 3 more years. We will see how things have progressed by then. I’m not interested in Tesla and the Taycan was a bit too rich for me right now.

I’ve spent a good amount of time in the S7 — two of my wife’s brothers have them. Sweet rides ... enjoy!
