Default In the winter....definitely. Even when I let it out you can hear the extra drag on the motor at -30

In the summer, it depends on how I'm feeling.

Default How can you "guarantee this"?

With the clutch out the starter has to spin the gearbox as well as the engine, that's a fact. This results in unnecessary load on the starter. Specifically during cold starts when the drag is increased even more.

I'm not saying your starter is going to die if you don't press the clutch in, but over time the effect is obviously multiplied. In most situations, there is no reason not to press the clutch for 2 seconds while you start the engine.

Just my $.02

Always; all of the manuals I learned on all required it so it's a force of habit.

Default Nope. I avoid it whenever possible.

I think its a bad idea to put pressure on the thrust bearings before oil pressure builds up. If it ends up costing me a starter then so be it, they are much easier to replace.

Default 1981. Paint shot, interior good, body pretty good for New England.

No rot at rear axel or strut towers. Fenders solid. To be cleaned up and sold when time allows.

I would rather replace the starter than the release bearing, etc...
