Power but no crank/ no start
My girls 1994 5 speed will not crank over. the battery is new. It did this once before and was ok after replacing the battery. Thinking neutral safety switch? Odd thing to me is the car always started with out pushing the clutch in. Not sure what year the factories changed that. Or am I looking at an ignition switch? I can hear a solenoid click on the second turn of the key. The car does bump start though. Thanks in advance! Nick

I can tell you there is no neutral safety switch. You dont have to have the clutch in to start.
It could be an ignition switch I suppose. A bad ignition switch can also get stuck and burn out the starter.
Could be a fuse of some sort perhaps. Others here will know more. Probably an easy fix somewhere.

Probably ignition switch. Here is a DIY with PNs. Only buy the switch from a dealer. Aftermarket switches do not last very long.
Oh, yeah, if you change the switch and still no start, the bad switch caused the starter to stay engaged after the engine started, killing the starter.

Thank you all for the replies. I love this forum! Put the new switch in on Sunday in abt 15 minutes. The old one was cracked. It looked original, had the Audi logo on it, although it was white and much less "beefy". If anyone ever has any paint or body questions, I am a certified Sikkens refinisher by trade and paint alot of BMW's and Audi's. Thanks again!
