Run in with a Mercedes CLK 420...
Coming back from the Colorado Wine Fest in Palisade, CO...the weather was horrible. Raining pretty hard..lots of standing water and visibility sucked too. Anyways finally get out of the weather and I am doing 85-90 MPH..and what do I see in my rear view mirror but some Mercedes Coupe. Oh boy I say..this could be trouble in more then one way.
So the road opens up and we both punch it. He is still behind me..but was falling behind "gradually" but steadily. At around 125 he is probably 15 car lengths behind and I slow down..due to traffic. Anyways we both crused the rest of 175 miles together sort of just following one another but neither of us making any stupid aggressive moves. Just opened her up when the road was clear. I could really tell I had a clear advantage going up Vail Pass as I would pull much harder then him. Most likely due to altitude...and my "hometown" karma ;-)
Not sure which engine he had in the CLK but I suspect it was at least 300 HP V8..perhaps the 362 HP V8..but did not see any badging to denote that..especially AMG.
Even saw post turbo/pre-FMIC temps of 300°F and post IC temps of 120°F...I would say the FMIC is doing her job eh? ;-)
