Default So my blue smoke-burning oil problem is 95% surely the turbo...

Thank you for all your help diagnosing this problem. I figured it was the turbo but I brought it in to a specialist to get it quickly checked out and he confirmed that it was 95% surely the turbo.
I'm wondering what advice you guys can give me on this issue. I am going to upgrade to a GT2871R from 034. Would I need to buy the whole kit or just the turbo. The mechanic says everything else is fine, I was just thinking I should get the advice of you guys first.

Default You need a better exhaust manifold AND 034's water and oil lines for the turbo. And..

injectors and software, etc. to make full use of the 2871. Otherwise, just find a good used K24 and install.

Default It's not as simple as throwing a 2871 turbo on there.... lots of supporting parts in order for it to

all work the way it was ment to. If you were to look at a gt2871r you should also think about upgrading your clutch, motor mounts to 034's density line, head studs, headgasket... etc

Default Well through 034, I found all of this would run me approx. $3800...

Is a 2871R THAT much different than Stock with MRC Stg 2 and a Stebro? I have been wanting to upgrade my car since I bought it and I would do so if it cost me around $2000, but $3800 is a bit steep for me right now...
At the same time, I don't want to buy a stock replacement turbo if I do end up upgrading later on.
Now I really don't know what to do...

Default The 034 tune for the 2871 is 100+ hp more than a chipped k24

Well worth the investment IMO. If you can't spring for all the upgrades now I would pick up a good used k24. They should be pretty cheap.

Default It doesn't smoke at startup...but smokes when im stopped and idle after using boost...

Usually at a stop sign after getting off a highway exit or something. Or a red light. It really smokes at the weirdest, most random times.

The high vacuum after stopping boost led people to believe its the valve seals... I hope not but I still don't know whether to believe Dave or the mechanic. haha

Default had the same symptoms.. ended up redoing seals/bearing/balance on my RS2Comp...

that was about $500.. got it back, nothing changed.. which had me in fear of seals or rings. . . . . BUT, we then figured out that the rebuild was shotty and it has to get redone... idiots.

so you symptoms sound exactly like mine were... i'm guessing you get smoke in a vacuum situation, also..
i know you said you were 95% sure.. just adding to it.

goodies on your car? Do you know how much differently your car performs compared to a car with a GT2871R?
