Default Android Auto Connection Issues

I have a 2022 Q4 ETron and have been having intermittent wireless connection issues with Android Auto. It automatically connects about 3 out of 5 times I start the vehicle. Every time the wireless connection to use the phone works (can make calls), but I sometimes lack Android Auto capability.

When contacting ETron customer service they let me know there is sometimes a conflict between Android Auto connecting and the bluetooth connection. They advised me to turn bluetooth off on my phone, and it would still automatically connect through some other means without getting confused by the bluetooth connection. That did not seem to work, as Android Auto does not work without bluetooth enabled on my phone.

I then tried to disable bluetooth in my vehicle, but again Android Auto will not connect unless bluetooth on the vehicle is turned back on.

Seems to be working for now after all of this disabling and enabling bluetooth, but I'm pretty certain I will have trouble again sometime tomorrow.

Is anyone else having the same issue, or has anyone found a good solution to these connection issues?

I am having the same issue. I agree it works about 3/5 times. When it doesn't work if I turn bluetooth off on the phone, turn it back on, then on the phone click on the Audi as a device I want to connect to. It then works for the rest of the trip. (It might even work without clicking on the Audi, but since I found a system that works and the Audi pops up to the top when I turn the bluetooth back on I haven't tried skipping that button). I'd love to have a fix where it just worked when I got in the car, but I assume that with so many different Android phones there will be issues like this at times. The process is annoying, but not so horrible that it drives me crazy. (I'd much rather put up with this flaw, but be able to leave on the lane centering feature, but turn off the beep and the message "please take over steering" when I get too close to the center line on narrow roads - that one is a bit of a pet peeve).

Newbie to the forum. I'd say you are both lucky that your wireless Android Auto connects 3 out of 5 times. I've tried over 15 times and have only succeeded 2 times (only have had the car for 2 days). Once it connected, it was fine but, once I exited the vehicle, it would not connect again. I tried a wired connection via USB-C and it worked right away. My guess is there is some software glitch specifically with the wireless Android Auto connectivity code causing a conflict somewhere. Hopefully Audi is aware and is working on a software update. Honestly, the wireless Android Auto was one of the things I was really looking forward to. If either one of you guys can find a working solution, I would appreciate if you could post it here. Thanks!!

No solution found yet, but as Secondo notes, turning Bluetooth off on the phone, then back on and selecting the Audi vehicle from available connections works every time for me. Annoying to have that glitch, as it should work seamlessly. I also hope they are working to resolve this annoyance!

I have the same issue with my Q3, and Android Wireless. Only connect 60% of time. Contacted Audi Service and they don't care- been a year now and complained 3 or 4 times to no avail. I even shared this fix to help them nail the bug. Don't expect this when you spend top $

Solution- without touching phone

Cleck the error message: go to Connected Devices
Click Settings wheel
Click Bluetooth/Turn off Bluetooth (form Visible)
Click Back button
Click Connected Devices
Click on your connection

All not so safe
