Default Q4 Range

I sold my 2019 etron to an Audi dealership when they made a surprisingly generous offer this par summer. Been eager ever since to get into a Q4 in the new year (I have maxed out my tax credits between a Tesla solar roof and another EV purchase for my wife. Based on my reading on the net and watching some of the European reviews, is there a chance that the RWD Q4 gets close to 300 miles on a charge? This is attractive to me because my commute is 90 miles round trip plus Indid sales calls sometimes. So the bump up from 215 to something we’ll north of 250 is a big deal for me. What have you heard or read?

From my experience with my Tesla, rated range and actual range are two completely different things. My TM3 is rated at 353 and I've never gotten close to that. I imagine my Q4 Etron (whenever we get it) will be the same. So if its rated at 250 or so, you'd be lucky to get over 200.

The Germans seem to be more conservative. I've watched a lot of reviews, comparing the Q4 e tron 50 to the Model Y. They say that the actual ranges between the 2 are close. I do think that if you are careful, the Q4 40 should get around 300. Even the Q4 50 should be fine with only a 90-100 mile round trip. Plus, you can use apps like Plugshare to find charging in areas that you are visiting to top it off when possible. The Supercharger network remains a huge advantage for Tesla. Hopefully, the charging infrastructure will improve under the infrastructure bill.

Tesla overstates the performance of their car and of their autopilot.

This comparison from Edmunds might be helpful. There is no Q4 but the ID.4 is included.

My TM3 is so damn fast I can assure you the performance isnt overrated. As far as autopilot goes, my car drives 95% of the time and I love it. I will never own another car without this type of technology. (NOTE: I do not have FSD) I hope this Q4 has a better lane keeping function that my wifes current 2018 Q5. Hers sucks.

Default Audi's Electric Vehicle offerings

Audi hasn't been able to get their ish together since the e-tron in 2019. The Q4 is further delayed with almost no communication to it's dealers or customers. Add to the fact their range is only getting near what Teslas was ten years ago and I would hold off for a couple more years to see what they can come up with

I just cancelled my Q4 order. With my Model 3 lease ending in June and the uncertainty of delivery of the Q4, I couldn't take the chance. I'm able to arrange a smooth transition from my 2019 M3 to a 2022 M3. I didn't anticipate the delays when I placed an order for the Q4 in October. That's life in the time of COVID. Perhaps I'll go with an Audi next time. The range of the Model 3 and the Supercharger network have made for a good EV experience. Perhaps another 3 years will give Audi time to improve efficiency and the non-Tesla charging infrastructure time to expand. I'm looking forward to reading Q4 owner reports later in the year.

well since Tesla can't match the interior from an audi of 20 years ago I guess there's always a trade off

I just hope this supply shortage mess is straightened out by the time my 2019 Etron SUV lease expires early Spring 2023. Now is a terrible time to be in the car market, or have to deal with potential purchases a year out.
