Differences between R8 engine and RS4 engine...

obviously the dry sump oiling is different...
but also- the R8 engine has twin throttle bodies, right?
I dont think the RS4's V8 has this feature.

I also wonder about the exhaust setup, might be different as well, totally different engine bays.

Maybe the RS4 engine is making more ponies, but for some reason Audi doesnt want to tell.

Or, i could be a dork.

I think you're right, the RS4 engine *should* be a little more potent.

hmmn....

Due to the extra space afforded within the mid-engined platform, Audi has redesigned the intake manifold especially for the R8. Starting at a beautifully crafted carbon-fiber airbox assembly, two separate mass air sensors feed two "drive-by-wire" throttle bodies fresh air taken from ductwork in the rear. Raising the ventilated rear spoiler not only increases rear downforce, it also helps bring more air to the engine. Within the intake manifold, each cylinder has its own tuned velocity stack offering a straight path to the cylinder head. Housed near the base of each velocity stack is an adjustable tumble flap designed to direct intake air to the specially designed piston crown in a controllable manner.

I would bet on the R8 putting out more HP.

The variable intake geometry, cold air intake, dry sump oil system and shorter less restrictive exhaust should all add up to a more potent version of the FSI V-8. The individual velocity stack fr each cylinder is similar to the Ferrari F430 set-up. All in all a much more "race like" setup.
