A6 Avant non-Bose upgrade

Okay, here's a really open ended question: A 2000 A6 Avant w/o Bose. What can be done to upgrade the standard Symphony system, without having to modify the existing speaker ports in the panels, or changing the head unit? Most posts I have read implies that the extra $750 for the factory-installed Bose is not worth it. So what can one do, if he spends some money aftermarket?

I don't know the size of your front speakers are but the A4 is 4.5 and .75

I upgraded almost everything but I think if you got new speakers to start with, you would be happy with the sound and the cost. The tweeters are higher and crisper and the mid is made of poly which sounds better. Eclipse makes a direct replacement for these speakers. Although it does come with a heaftier crossover that you need to mount somewhere in the door.

Depending on your taste of music, you could add a woofer box/amp and/or get a new amp for the front speakers.

Does the maker of Eclipse have a web site?

Where can I go on the web to take a look at the these and/or other possible replacements? Thanks for the tip.

Blaupunkt Overdrive's sound great.

I had eclipse speakers in my eclipse and they sound just as good as the Blau. The guy at the store told me the Blau is more efficient than the eclipse. Pretty cheap too. $69 for 4" in the front. $99 for 5 1/4 in the back. My original tweeter works with this setup perfectly. Blau does make a component for the rear also. around $199 I think.
