Bluetooth do it yourself?
I have a stock 2006 a3. Is it possible to setup the bluetooth phone yourself. I didn't feel like spending $1000us to get it. I have the buttons on the wheel, any third party stuff?

If you go aftermarket, you can't use your OEM buttons or microphone...
The OEM kit is one of the best out there, especially if you have the NAV. Look at some comments on how the Audi system sounds to the recipient of th call... it is perfect. I've heard many bad reviews of other aftermarket bluetooth kits.
If you're going to spend money to add bluetooth, I can only suggest that you save for a couple more months and go OEM instead of spending a little on an aftermarket kit.

For $490 is it plug-and-play?
I have a 05.5 A4 Avant that did not have bluetooth as an option. Very strange as it seems to be identical in every way to the 06 Nav setup. Does the OEM module work or are there parts not installed on my year?

You may not have the wiring for the BT module. If you do, it will be in a black box...
underneath the carpet under your passenger's seat. There will be a large black 54-pin plug. I kind of doubt that the wiring is there but you never know.
