need help
in a sealed box... but the box is pretty big... i want to switch to a sub with the same punch but don;t need that much space... what do you guys recommend?...
if you didnt want as hard hitting a system I would say go w/ a JL series 3 10" or 12" .
I use 1 JL 10 and its nice.. uses a tiny truck box too prolly sound better in a better box. But then it doesnt hit like a 15" would. On the flip side..smaller the sub the faster its response time so not as deep but quicker if that makes any sense. Also may want to try a polk device that is boxless made for home stereos..screwes into the floor or under seat and provides insane base but at such a low frequency that its barely any sound mostly vibration..its made for theater effects etc..almost force feedback type device. But it hits and hits hard.. super low bass!
The shop I bought the sub from had just stopped selling Diamond so They only had on 12" M5 left and I took it. The owner has two of these in his van and the hatch flexes out about two inches (they are crazy) and they are very musical. Definately look into the M6 line if you want a high quality sub that requires a small enclosure..
Also check into Image Dynamics, Alumipro, Eclipse, and of course JL Audio (especially the new W6 V.2 line)..
