Default Problems with sub/amp

When I shut off my stereo my sub emmits a single "bum". Even if I completely shot off the volume prior to shutting off the stereo, the bum thing still happens.
Any ideas on what could be causing it?
Thanks.

My friends does that too. It's usually just the amp turning off. What kind of amp and sub do you have??

Default You'll have to hook up some sort of delay circuit to your turn-on wire.

I think it's as simple as a resistor, but any competent audio shop should be able to hook you up fairly quick and cheap.

Default I acutally just noticed that it only does that when the stereo volume is low right before I turn it

off. If the stereo was loud, then there is no sound.

hmmmmmm.

Default Info

I have a Rampage 300Watt amp (I know - sucks) and an MTX 500Watt sub. Amp is around 150RMS and I have it set at 3/4 volume. In signal is comming from the DELTA oem stereo and is unamplified.

Thanks.

Default Well...THERE YOU GO...

Your amplifier is going into protection mode, there is a power cut off point before it reaches power-down protection...for circuit protection...if it were to power down completely, it would take a while for the amp to cool off first...THE AUDIOVOX RAMPAGE AMP SHOULD NOT BE SET AS HIGH AS 3/4 GAIN...You should hear mucho distortion, and the amp should get fairly hot...This amp is not meant to be run so hard...TURN DOWN THE GAIN......

Default but I want it LOUD :)

Joke. I'll turn it down see if that helps.
Weird thing is that when the volume is up to over the middle, there is no "bum" at "shutdown".
The amp is temprary until I get a good one.

I think a delay would fix this, too. They're cheap--try one.

Default You can also just use a rocker switch for the amps

And turn them off before you turn off your car.
It also looks cool if installed well on the dash. You can have a set of batmobile like light up switches.
