System advice needed
I'm going to put a new system in my '91 200q and need some advice as to how to set it up.
It has the Bose system, which will be removed, but I am a bit puzzled as I can't figure out just what I can put in the car. It looks like it has two 5" speakers per side in the front- one in the dash, one in the door. Has anyone seen a config like this one? I figure I can probably get a 5.25" speaker into one of the speaker locations. I am not going to do custom pods or anything exotic, but I'd like to be able to put a nice set of component speakers in the front. Would the proper setup have the tweeters down low in the doors or in the dash location?
Also, I have a set of Boston RC51 in my old car that I could presumably transfer- would this be fine, or would it be better to get a better set of components? I see that soundhabit has Image Dynamics 5.25" components for about $200. I also have a Sony 604EQX amp that I can use- I'm thinking about using this to power the fronts and bridge the rears for a sub. Would this be an acceptable setup?
Now for a sub- sealed box, or what? Something that can be powered by a mediocre 120W from a Sony power amp would be nice.
As for connections- any advice on gauge of wire and brand? I was thinking of using some 14 gauge wire, but that may be too thick to get through the doors. What would be enough for 60W into these components and still be not impossible to route through the doors and dash?
Is there anywhere that sells dashkits and pre-made connections for setting up the power amp and head unit? I can reuse the power amp connections from my old car, probably, but I don't know how the head unit is setup just yet. Any suggestions?
Thanks from a relative audio install newbie.
