Is there a power antenna turn on lead I have to connect to in the factory harness? more...
I'm getting power & acc power from the main input to the fuse panel
Ground from the chasis
signals out go through RCAs to the amp, then through new wiring to the speakers
So, my only concern is with this antenna. Assuming I get the power antenna adapter that Siberian mentions in a post below (and the item in the pic), is there still a wire in the factory harness that I have to connect to, to turn on or power the antenna? Or is this taken care of with that red wire on the adapter?
Thoughts?<p>Mark P

I can't remember what color that wire was.
I think you said that I connect that red wire to the FACTORY car wiring (not the aftermarket stereo?). Why would I do this - the car's factory wiring would not "know" when I turn on my aftermarket stereo in order to power the antenna.
Here's the two options:
Either the red wire is an input to the antenna adapter which provides power to it *OR* it is an output of the adapter that signals another device to turn on.
If it's the first (which I'd be more likely to imagine), I should connect that wire to the Power Antenna wire on my *aftermarket* stereo, not to the wiring harness (Factory)
OKAY, I've been thinking about this and I think I may have figured it out...
You are assuming that by me using a wiring harness "kit", that I will be connecting the power ant lead of my aftermarket stereo to the Factory wiring harness, thus it does not matter where I connect the red wire, because the aftermarket is connected to the Factory wiring. HOWEVER, in my case, I have not yet needed to use any factory wiring (thus my original question) and thus my Factory wiring is not connected to my aftermarket stereo.
Okay, this is just a lot of babbling. Please forgive me.
I think the red wire needs to *receive* power when you turn on your stereo, so thus it should be connected to the power antenna output wire of my aftermarket stereo.
My only other concern (orig question) is if I need to hook the output of my aftermarket stereo (power antenna lead) to the factory wiring.
Oh, and I do not know of anyone that makes a wiring harness kit (so you don't have to cut wires) for an Audi - is there any?

Trust me... I promise this is the right way to do it. I looked up the archive of my original post from early June explaining exactly how I fixed it (and I posted that just hours after I actually installed it).
Okay, go install it and lemme know how it works. It should be fine. I had absolutely no am reception b4 I put it in, and now I get great am.
sorry I confused ya!
