I need consensus!
I have never done more than wash and wax my car with bath towels. Now, I have a car with fairly nice black paint in good shape and I want to keep it nice. (not the car in my sig).
I am probably not commited enough for a 8-step process, but it is clear to me after my searches that I need to buy a Porter cable, and microfiber towels for this new car. And, I need to learn to polish twice a year. I have read enthusiastic reviews on Klasse, Menzerna, Meguairs, and Zaino to name a few.
But, which is best for a lazy newbie like me? Each of these manufactures makes 500 different formulas with lots of confusing numbers.
I don't have bad water marks or swirl marks, just want to protect my car and make it look nice. Sorry in advance if I am asking the same question as every other newbie every week!
I will say this though.... your a noob AND lazy, (both fine qualities if I may add, stand proud!!)
Id give you 2 lines to focus on. Klasse and 1z. Phil carries 1z and the line is robust enough to get you through most all situations and easy enough that you dont need a million steps. Klasse is super easy, but limited.
A PC, a few pads the 1z line, MF towels, applicators for the wax and your gold.
Good luck!
As long as you keep care of your car, you'll have no worries.
Good car soap, lots of water, keep the sponges/mits nice and clean.
Clay bar.
Quality polishes and waxes, via PC or by hand. If you paint is new and in good shape, you can keep it up by hand, only when you need lots of correction will you need mechanicals. Or if you're lazy, then mechanicals are great!

I personally went with Menzerna + PC, but I still bought the Adams training DVD.
