Paint protection film questions, are 3m and Xpel the same thing?
How do you "polish & wax" a car that has a film on? Just like any other, or are there special precautions one needs to know?
Planning to do just the bumper and not the bonnet because i dont want the line across it. Unless a full bonnet film is available?
Is it advisable to do a full detail before applying the film? (after the wax cures of course)
Car would be red and I guess it needs to be done by a professional installer. How different would panels with or without films look?

The paint needs to be completely stripped before applying the film.
Polishing before hand is good to get the paint in it's best condition, but don't wax it. Whoever applies the clearbra will use alcohol to strip the paint first thing.
Clearbraing the whole hood is totally possible, just not typical and would cost more.
After it's on you can polish and wax just like normal.

I don't see the need to polish new film
...polish either has abrasives, chemical cleaners or both. If you feel you need to use a last step product (wax/sealant) on it just make sure it's freshly washed and/or use isopropyl alcohol. Just be careful what you are using won't cause yellowing.
I've used Mother's plastic polish on applications that were slightly dull/discolored over time with good results.

decided to go for ventureshield. They seem to recommend plexus or if bad, a heat gun??!
