Water spots
Howdy folks. In June, I obtained a 2017 TTS (in brilliant black). As soon as I gave it a wash, I noticed that water spots formed everywhere on it (both on the paint and the glass). This perplexes me, as I also have a 2013 F150 (in tuxedo black) that has never had this issue. I tried using a vinegar-based solution (not very strong), but the problem persisted. I also used a microfibre cloth, and a squeegee, but those didn't help much. This problem has happened at home (where I have a water treatment system to remove iron from the water) and at the car wash that's 10 miles away. Am I doing something wrong, or is there some quirk about this mysterious little creature that I missed? Many thanks in advance.

Try spraying on Duragloss 952 Aquawax and wipe with microfiber cloths. It is more of a drying agent and wax supplement, and eliminates that kind of thing. Works great. Meguiars X-Press is the same idea, but more waxy-though it is a tradeoff as while more waxy sounds good, it is not as easy to wipe off. Both are good in different ways.

Did you wash it in direct sunlight and on a hot day? If so it is most likely from hard water.... hard water is just having excess calcium and magnesium in the water. It is possible to take those out by just scrubbing very hard but not recommended. You could try using a soft clay bar and if that doesn't work a fine polish

I have a Brilliant Black car too. Keep a good coat of wax on it and do not use just a pressure washer. Wash with car wash soap in the shade, rinsing off as you go. After I've finished the whole car, I then have to rinse it off again, immediately pull into my garage and dry the car with drying towels before water spots form. If there are spots that you don't get to in time, use a quick detailer spray wax on them.
