Default check engine light / pulled some codes.

ok i posted this on another forum before maybe you guys can help me out with this, kind of long.

1st:
engine code p0171 ... is it o2 or maf
i have a giac chip and kn air filter: i got the code maybe 2-3 months after installation i do not know if it is connected to the problem.. the car is an 01 and has 58k miles

I get this code all the time p0171 lean fuel trim bank 1 if i remember correctly, i thought that meant that the first oxygen sensor was mal functioning and needed to be replaced, however i read somewhere that the mass air flow sensor is causing this problem??? does it just need to be cleaned...

thanks

2nd:
ok so the engine light came back on again and this time i plug the obd2 reader into the car and i get 4 codes:

first is the p0171 code just like before about being too lean in bank one, the other code numbers were;
p0300 or p0030 whatever itwas, but basically the other 3 odes were random misfire, misfire cylinder 1 and misfire cylinder 2, i haven't had time to switch the coils around to see if the coils are going bad but could the starting code p0171 be a bad maf? is thats what's causing the problem?

Default Re: check engine light / pulled some codes.UPDATE

To anyone who cares:

Ok so i just installed 4 brand new coils, and i also installed a new MAF sensor. The install was easy, i did not have to deal with tamper resistant screws,they were just regular philips head, maybe someone changed this MAF before? I broke the clip for the plug to the maf trying to get it off but after putting it back on with the new MAF it did not seem like it would just slide off. I kind of jammed the new sensor through the whole from the air box because of the outside rubber ring seal that makes it air tight. I had to push it in there in against the whole with a little bit of force in order to line up the two screw holes so i could screw it into place. I also got rid of the K&N air filter, i do not want to pay another 288 dollars for a new MAF. I cleared all the codes car seems to run well now, could be all in my head though. So far it seems to have fixed the problem, no codes, I'm hoping.

Default It ain't the K&N filter...

or else everyone who used them would be replacing
their MAF's.

well i read how people were having trouble with all the access oil on the k&n air filter messing up the sensor, any way i put the original in, works fine i don't even feel the TREMENDOUS 3hp difference, but if anyone wants to buy mine it has only been on the car for like a month maybe less.
