I'm going to get an A4 1.8 T Qa, auto. I assume it is required that I put in premium fuel?

Re: Only if your cars ECU is programmed to take advantage of it.

what is ECU? I'm buying a new a4 and want to know if i need to put in premium gas.

The engine will adjust timing if you don't put premium in......

If you want to take advantage of the 170hp as published, put premium gas in. If you put 87 or 89 octane gas in, your engine won't be damaged but because of timing adjustments, your performance will suffer.

C'mon, what's 15-20 cents a gallon difference worth to you when it comes to fun and performance?
