Update.
The piece of sh*t I hit was about 15" wide by 6" high, so when I hit the object it pushed the oilpan in and the casting fins broke from the bottom of the pan from the impact. The newer pan has this weird little indent on it, what's that for? An oil cooler? They said it was for the 1998 2.8 AHA series. Wish it would have been cheaper,
like the 283 Chevy I dented. Take it off, beat it out with a hammer and reinstall. Done.
Stupid German cars, who ever thought cast alloy would hold up on American roads...guess it's all about weight savings etc.
