Active thread tracking feature wanted (explained within)
One that I would like to see is the ability to see a list of 'active' threads that I've participated in. If a thread that I've posted in (or 'marked') receives a new reply, then I would like to know about it--I'm obviously interested in the thread if I participated in it or marked a 'watch' button next to it.
This way, if someone looks through a couple pages back, or I miss a post by a page, I know that it's still active.
These could be compiled in a seperate dynamic forum, 'Monitored' or 'Favorite' and would be completely relational to the user logged in.
You're using Apache here, so does this mean Apache+PHP+MySQL?
Contact me if you'd like to talk about this more indepth, technically, I do this type of thing for a living.

Yes, we are using Apache + PHP + MySQL right now. The slowness problems are caused by the load. The code to generate the main forum listings, isn't the most intelligent in the world (but significantly better than the old software we used), but there's only so much we can optimize the software.
I'll probably be sending you an email to test it soon.
