AudiWorld has *far and away* the most usable forum user interface ... not only of car forums, but forums in general. It's amazing how many people seem to have made this their home on the net.
Some of the thread you have posted, seem to indicate that much of it was custom developed. You know, I have no idea what your server side looks like ... but the front end is so usable and successful that you might consider investing into packaging it up as a product (if you haven't already). How do I know? ... I work in product management for internet software.
