Let me start by saying that I like the format of the discussion forums very much. My favorite by far. The classifieds, on the other hand, are another story, IMHO. Why can't they just be run as a similar forum, but have the threads locked after the initial post?

Here are my issues with the classifieds:

1)You have to create a separate account for them. This is like an ongoing joke. I have seen people asking about this almost weekly.

2)The categories are all wrong. They should be arranged by car model, with a few broad ones such as "car audio" and "wheel and tire".

3)The "cars for sale" section is WAY too cluttered with dealership advertisements. There could be a separate section for them alone! You have to go 3 pages back to find any significant amount of FSBO ads.

4)The "run for 7 days and renew" policy is a big pain. Old ads get pushed to the back anyway, just delete anything older than a month.

5)It would appear that some forum moderators realize that the classified section is garbage, and allow well-intentioned and targeted (perhaps somewhat masked) "wanted" or "for-sale" posts. Others immediately delete anything of the sort... But we still get those blanket advertisement posts in every forum about things that have nothing to do with certain models. It would be nice to have a set policy on this.

Maybe I'm a little bitter because I had a wanted post deleted. But, honestly, I feel that a majority of the discussion forum participants don't use the classifieds because they're just too poorly executed. I know that I RARELY check the classifieds on this site, but do so on other sites almost every day.

Keep up the good work on the discussion forums, but please seriously consider changing the classifieds!

Yes, and I know why it got deleted, and I won't argue it..... but it prompted me to write this.

 

I got these beauts off an AudiWorld classifieds ad, CHEAP too:

They were cheap because nobody else wanted to wade through the awkward interface to find them!!

 

Nope, I was the first to e-mail the owner. He said he got 9 other e-mails about them.

 

I am putting it together pro bono so its on my time to get it done. Give it some time and there will be something new.

 

Great! I think that it would be VERY popular if it was easier to use.
