i think he's referring to vbb forum software where one can
click the quote button on a post and it will be included in one's reply, albeit with a slight different format, indicating that it's quoting part/all of another post.
if my vote counts, i hate that. i hate having to scroll past some crap i just read when anyone with two brain cells can ASSertain which post someone is retorting to without having to re-read it verbatim AGAIN.

Actually that has nothing to do with what i am talking about.
I want blockquotes for something like quoting another website. Like say I go to CNN and want to quote the first paragraph and then link to the rest of the article. I want people to know that it is not actually me speaking but the other webpage or source. Having it within blockquote lets me and other users know that I am simply quoting something a not passing of said text as my own. You can see a use of this on my website on this <a href="http://www.dirtymonkeys.net/archives/0003 page</a>31.php">this page</a>. This has nothing to do with VBB and threaded comments etc. except for the fact that it allows you to highlight the fact you are quoting someone. It is merely using what exist in CSS and what should be available to anyweb user. If they don't want to implement it thats fine, but its not like anyone could abuse something like <blockquote>. And if I'm not making sense I'd be happy to explain them more in depth.

Tables would be cool, but probably not as easy to implement as <blockquotes>
I never thought of using italics, and that's not a bad suggestion to use in the meantime. I think a nice and simple looking blockquote would be a really nice feature.
