suggestion to move to ultimate CGI
However, I'm always willing to add new features to this software. Can you give me a URL to a website which uses it or something? I can then see exactly what you are talking about then.

This is what I mean, if you post to a thread, it will appear first in the list of all threads to be displayed.
It's a very simple Algorithm
Thread get's a post, place it at top of page.
Push rest of threads down one.
(You create a new thread it goes to the top, because it's a new post)
IE.
Say I have thread1, people keep posting to it,
it will appear at the top of the list so it constantly moves to the top of list. Say we have thread2, it get's a couple of posts but no one is really interested, because no one is posting to thread2 the more active threads are constantly being placed ahead of it in the list, and thread2 will keep getting pushed farther down in the pages, but who cares no one was really interested in that topic anyway. But, your more active threads people won't have to jump to page2, or page3 in the browser to view because it will be first thing they see because everytime a thread gets a post it moves to the top of the list.
MOst active topics will be displayed first.
The threads of a topic will stay in the same order.
IE Every time a topic gets a new thread or message posted to it, that topic moves the top of list of topics to be displayed.
When you come back to the forum at a later point, threads that you've tracked will be at the top in a special highlight color, with the new additions to the thread in boldface.
I think this is more useful than the way UCGI does it (<i>all</i> newly-added-to threads bubble to the top) because I'm not interested in looking at certain threads, and I could care less whether they're updated or not.
If you're not using the new (beta) forum software, try it out and see if the thread tracking is what you're looking for. You can view the forums using the beta software by replacing the "m" in the forum URL with "m.new". For example, this forum's URL is normally:
<tt>https://www.audiworld.com/forum/m/feedback/</tt>
To use the new software, it'd be:
<tt><a href="https://www.audiworld.com/forum/m.new/feedback/">https://www.audiworld.com/forum/m.new/feedback/</a></tt>
and similarly for the other forums. Note that if you've been using the normal forum software, you'll need to re-login to use the new software, as it uses a different browser cookie.
- poster/user profiles w/stats on posts
(for example, look at http://forums.clubsi.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/005288.html, and you see how long a person has been posting) - this way you can kinda tell if it's a newbie or not, and basically if they have an inkling of what they're talking about
plus it just seems a little bit more organized. With the current software here, it's just basically a long scroll, and anything past a few days gets shoveled into the dusty archives (and we all know how many people actually search them
)just my 0.02
