As far as tools go nothing too special is needed.
What car is it this on? You need a head gasket set $100-150 The head will need to be resurfaced $50-100. I'm sure someone local to you can lend a hand. Post up in one of the more active forums 80/90.I'd offer to help but I'm in CT and don't know where you are located?

the coolant should be pink to begin with.
And i think you did not flushed the coolant properly.Flush it a few times with water let it run and then let it cool completely and then flush again.
