Alternator overcharging?
My climate control display says my alternator is charging at 14 Volts at idle with no acessories on. This is to high correct?
The Bentley manual doesn't have any info regarding this but I seem to remember hearing before that a alternator should never be charging over 14 Volts...?
Does anyone know what the correct voltage range should be?
With all accesories running, I get 12.4 Volts at idle...
The last thing I need is an exploding battery...

Actually, 13.8V is the "textbook" operating voltage for an automotive charging system, it should....
go a little higher as it gets colder. The alternators voltage regulator is temp compensated, a colder lead-acid battery need a higher voltage to charge.
