a common experience?
I finally got around to doing the 90,000 mile service this weekend. Everything went real smooth, except the rotor. It was stuck so bad that we(myself and roomates) at first thought that the mechanic who installed it must have glued it on. We were pulling on it so hard you could see the entire engine lean. Eventually we weaseled some pliers in there and tried prying it off with that, then the counter weight on the back side broke off. So I was thinking, ok at least I can still drive it to a garage if the rotor won't let go. Well, second attempt at pulling the rest of the rotor off just broke off the metal striker that hits the distributor cap. Now there was just a plug of worthless orange plastic stuck there with no intention of coming loose(at this point I started freaking out! Tuning up you car can be so traumatic when you think you have ****ed it up!). We essentially had to use a screw driver and hammer to break off bits and pieces at a time. The new rotor could slide on to it's "male" counterpart smoothly, but fit so tight the end had to be tapped with a small hammer to get it all the way on. What the heck? Changing a rotor shouldn't be that hard, or hard at all! This was the 20v engine, is this a common experience? I hope not!

I think that the rotor may have been "glued" in and not intended for removal on that model...there was someone asking about the same thing on the Q-list today...so that could be why you had such a hassle. HTH.
