leaky radiator

Default leaky radiator

I have a leak in my rad that started back in Nov, a couple of weeks after i bought the car. It didn't leak when i bought it but when i removed the engine sheild to change the oil and filter - geing pressed for time - I failed to replace it. ..until the following week. So perhaps a rock struck it....

However it leaked very slow like the warning light would come on once a month...until now where it seems like every second day.

I examined it yesterday and the rad looks pretty much new, even the cooling fins.
The coolant is dripping off the bolt on the bottom that goes mid-way across and holds the rad. and air scoupe. Again everything looks good,but if i haul down on the bracket, on the bottom, it leaks a fair bit faster.

So i was wondering if there is some type of seal that is broke, how strong the lower rad is- should it break, and am I looking at the wrong place?

Meaning has anybody had this happened with the same symtoms but the leak was elsewhere?

Default it is dead

if i understand what you are saying, you mean that when you pull down the plastic piece that the hoses conect to that antifreeze leeks out. This is what happened to me on the top the plastic cracked and when the system was under any presure fluid would escape. If this is the case you must replace the radiator.

Default no...the

bracket that runs from the chassis to the bottom of the rad where the only bolt on the bottom goes through...

Reason being the leak is not allowing your cooling system to fully pressurize, therefore allowing your system to run hotter than normal!
The pressure(14-22psi) keeps the water from boiling too soon. Luckily its still sort of cool outside.

Leaking coolant systems are not to be taken lightly! Especially with aluminum heads, which
tend to warp if overheated.

You should get it fixed most promptly.

Default I dont think that that bolt goes into the actual radiator

it must be dripping down from somwhere try and find out where it is coming from.
