The upper intercooler hose is a elbow shaped hose that runs from the intercooler (the radiator like thing right in front of the engine) to the throttle body (front of the intake manifold). It like to crack on the bottom, so you have to remove it to check. It is that big piece of rubber, not a normal hose.
The sensor does sound electical, if it were bad pressure it would tend to come on at idle. I'm afraid I never had that go bad on either of my I5s, so I don't know where it is, but one of the favorite places is on the filter mount.
To fix the problem I started by changing the front calipers and shoes, but that did not fix the problem. Then I checked the master cylinder for free movement. It seemed OK, so I put it back in. No change. Then I replaced the master cylinder with a rebuilt unit (about $45 at Kragens - no laughing guys!) and the problem was cured... A cheap solution to a frustrating prob. I hope yours is this simple.
As for the oil sensor... It may not be just a sensor. Check the pressure at the sensor port. Check the shop manual for the procedure. If it's OK, then change the sensor. Don't make the mistake of ignoring it... If it's a turbo, you may be in for some trouble...
