Manual A6 When?
Does anybody know if and when the A6 quattro sedan will be available with 5 speed manual transmission in the US? It knocks 2+ seconds off the 0-60 time in the European version compared to the Tiptronic.<p>One dealer in Boston area said "never" and another(at the Boston Auto Show) said they are getting 10 manual cars in January 1999.<p>e-mail to Audi USA produced a "no comment" response! I await a reply to e-mail direct to Germany.<p>Thanks<br>Paul Cooper

May not get here :-(
I went to the Seattle Auto show today, and the salesman I deal with was there. I asked him about the rumors surrounding the A6. He confirmed that the 230 HP twin turbo V6 and the 4.0 litre V8 were headed stateside (atleast last he heard), but he did not know exactly when. He didn't think that we would see a manual transmission, but did indicate that it would likely be the 6 speed if we did. He really didn't think we will get it though. Too bad, because I absolutely love the A6, but won't buy it with an automatic. If I here any other news, I'll post it here.:-)<p>Charles<br>

According to "Guide de l'auto"...
The A6 will get larger RHS mirror, heated backseats, manual tranny and optional sport package. This is a Quebec car guide and refers to Canadian models of course.<p>I remember reading in a couple of US publications that the A6 will get manual & sport (next August maybe).

As a matter of fact...
we WILL be getting the A6 with manual and quattro in the states. it is expected to arrive this spring. the V8 will come later in the form of the S6 with a 6-speed; this car won't get here till model year 2000 or just before.

That's a 4.2 liter V8, not a 4.0.............
The V8 is supposed to get five valves per cylinder and make 310 hp......this will be the top-end A6.<p>The Germans already have the detuned biturbo V6 (230 hp) on the A6. My guess is that this engine is more likely to get a manual option than the V8.<p>Both cars should arrive by mid-summer of 99.<p>The S6 will get the S8's 340 hp V8.<p>The S6+ will get the 400+ hp biturbo V8. I doubt we'll see it in the states.<p>Confirmations on any of these specs, Manuel?<p>Rick
