Is it necessary to pull the dash...

to replace the heater core in a 1992 Audi 80? Mine is leaking and stinking the whole car up like anti-freeze. Someone please tell me Audi had the sense to make this a fairly easy DIY job...

Not entirely off.

And it is a PITA job. Took all day. You have to get it off just far enough to get the heater core out, I didn't pull the dash completely out like miktip did.
