oil light / 5000cs

My oil light comes on when at a complete stop - goes out again at about 1500rpm. I use 20-50 oil in the summer.
Could this be a sensor??

Probably not. I'd guess it doesn't come on when the car is cold?

Sure sounds like the oil pump is old and tired. Obviously the sensor will be easier to try.

You can probably get by for longer than you think. Don't ask me how long, I have no idea.

Has a 78 Fox with an oil light like that. Drove it for a good six months before buying a new Quattro. Seems like the oil light would go off at about 1000RPM. That was a 1.? liter four cylinder, about 180,000 miles. Car was 10 years old.

Sounds like a sensor problem to me...

See if you can get it cleaned up and working or replace it. Also have your oil pressure checked by a competent mechanic if you don't know how to do it yourself...
