Ongoing hesitation problems solved!
Turned out to be the differential pressure regulator! Mechanic said this is the only one he has ever seen bad. Has anyone else ever heard of this problem? Car runs like a gem now...

That is interesting. I have thought that was one possibility on my 85 5KS. Did your engine run very lean? White deposits on all plugs? On mine, the injector pressure seems to bleed off after sitting for a few minutes causing a vapor lock situation, but it doesn't smoke excessivly when restarted as you would expect if the injectors are leaking.

I had mine replaced. When I ordered it, I was told that...
...it's a common failure item. I had mine replaced because the check engine light was flashing and the code pulled pointed at the differential pressure regulator. Sadly, the check engine light still flashed after replacement. I then cleaned the ISV and I think that cleared up the light, but I'm not sure. I'll have to ask my friend who now has the car. needless to say, I think I replaced the regulator for no reason! :-(
