Picture of a new Passat in ACTION (autox)

This is a picture of our friend Aaron (known as AJL here)....he was grinning ear to ear when the picture was taken....good job AJL!Steve S. 97 2.8QMP.S. Hey, whose helmet is that?

NICE! Now I don't have to imagine what my car would look like out there.

Good pic Steve; does AJL have a sport suspension setup (i.e. H&R/Bilstien/225-45r17", etc.) ??HermanH 98.5 Passat 1.8tm (still stock.)

Herman,Stock springs and struts, 225/50R16, Neuspeed 27mm solid front sway bar. The car leans/dives a bit, but is still a blast to drive around/over cones with.If you're considering autoXing your Passat, do it! You'll have a blast, and *two* Windsor Blue Passats on the course would be cool... I might be going to the Pleasanton event this Sunday, and will definitely be in Oakland on the 31st.AJL 98 Passat 1.8T

Oakland/Alameda has an autox club or somthing?

Is there some club info on the net that I can look up regarding the autox in oakland and Stockton? This year is out but next summer I should have at least an anti-roll bar; BTW: will they frown upon a chipped car? For that matter, is your Passat chipped?HermanH 98.5 Passat 1.8tm

These are SCCA "slush series" (late season) events.Two good web pages:www.scca.org (SCCA home page) www.sfrcca.com (SF region SCCA chapter)A chip will put you in a much faster class, in with cars having suspension modifications. No chip for me (yet), my last car only had about 70hp and so 150hp still seems like enough!AJL 98 Passat

70HP ???? What was it...a Chevette? I'd be OK if it was a motorcycle.

Thanks for the information. In light of the chip rules, I guess I'll pass on AutoX in a formal setting. When I go for a more sporty suspension, pehaps I'll try. (I've autox'd in the past with a 65'Mustang - you should see the dive on THAT. If you make it out to SteveS luncheon, I'll bring a photo for laughs!)HermanH 98.5Passat
