Default Radio reception

I just had a new aftermarket radio installed in my 91' 100. This replaced another aftermarket radio. The reception on the new radio is very poor. I live in the Chicago area and can now only pull in 2 am and about 5 or 6 fm stations. I didn't have this problem with the previous radio.

I understand there are two antennas on this car. Is one antenna the primary one, is one better than the other??? I'm wondering if the installer choose the weaker antenna??

Any thoughts on this????

The antennas have an amplifier that needs to be powered. Most likely the person who installed your radio did not power up the antenna. No amplifier - no reception.
I had the same problem after i put my aftermarket radio. If you can do that, follow the wire diagram on your old radio and run power to the antenna amp. yourself.
I don't know which of the antennas is more powerful. I think i'm using the front one and the reception is OK.

Good luck!

I am in Chicago too... Just installed new radio and there is no reception basically for me. I have the white wire connected to the radio, but that does not do it. I tried both white wires as one is a amp wire... Tried connecting the white wire directly to a power line and no good either.. any thoughts?
