Default The saga is continuing

I still don't have my 1984 Audi 5000 back yet. It's been 8 weeks now. I had it towed last Tuesday from the garage that had it for 7 weeks and it is now in the hands of my regular Audi mechanic. We are still stumped about the Hydo pump. My mechanic doesn't want to blow out another rack & pinion so he suggested taking it to the dealer. The dealer is the only place in town with a pump tester. I told the mechanic that we might just as well replace the pump (it was leaking a little bit anyway). It was going to cost $150 for towing it to the dealer and getting it checked. I can get the pump replaced for $300. I might end up paying out $450 if the pump is bad. Anyway, the mechanic is going to replace the pump and the rack for $800 and guarantee it for a year. Now the trick is going to be to try to recoup some of my money from the other "mechanic". If the new pump causes the rack to blow then we will really have a mess on our hands. My mechanic said "Don't worry, we will guarantee it." I'm still worried. I'm going to have to drive this car for another two years to recover my losses. Oh well, I do like the car.
