Starting Up Problem
I have an 1984 Audi 5000s, I have a problem starting the car up, go to turn the key a couple a times , car won't start. Go away for 20-30 minutes car starts right up. Car sits for more than five hours same problem. Turn key a couple times go away for 20-30 minutes car starts right up. does anyone know what the problem could be, and how it can be fixed. Thanks

Pass on some more detail. Is the starter turning? Does the car run fine otherwise? If the answer is yes to these I had a problem with the ignition switch on a 5K once - dirty contacts. I found that pressing in slightly with the key while running the starter would make all the difference. Its so simple that its worth mentioning.

Well If the engine isn't even turning over then clean your battery terminals. If you get absolutely nothing when engaging the starter, that is a pretty good bet. Only other things would be dirty contacts in the ignition switch or on the starter solenoid. Do you even hear a click when engaging the starter?

Does it start fine when warm? If so, my car has the exact same problem. I will let you know if I fix it. Most paople talk of hard starts when the car is hot. Not us! Let me know if you have any luck.
