Still a problem...
Hello everyone,
I had a small leak under my car right under the transmission. What I discovered is that it was differential oil and I needed new output shaft seals. Well I took it into my local audi dealer. Langham Audi in Albany, New york. Well it cost $138 to fix and the leak is worse then ever. I have had good luck with them everytime. Did they not fix it right. Or is it jusr residue from the old one dripping off....

Definately should NOT be residue, especially if you say it is 'worse than ever'. I just replaced these on my car and they are dry.
It is possible to install these incorrectly, either off-center or too deep into the housing.
Another possibility is that the axle driver flange that goes through the seal is worn where the seal rides on it. No fix other than to replace the driver. This would be pretty extreme and only on cars with very high miles.
I would certainly take it back.
