Strut Caps

I need front strut caps for my 1990 Audi Quattro Coupe. The parts are prety cheap - $35. The shop told me it was about $300 in labor though! The caps I have now are functional, but make loud thud noise over bumps. I was told I could drive on them as long as I don't mind the noise.

I don't mind it enough for $335, but if anyone out there has experience changing these and can give me advice for doing it myself, I would definitely put my own time into fixing it.

Strut tower bearings...

I have not tried replacing them on your particular car, but in every other Audi/vw it is really simple. 1. get a shop manual for the proper torque specs. and accurate directions (don't cheat as the new bearing will get toasted by too much torque). 2. Sometimes you need a deep well socket to get at the top nut. 3. At worst you will need a rental spring compressor as sometimes the top bolt also holds the top spring cap. (still really easy to do).
